Important decision on Singapore Election

The Past in Singapore

Remembered those days in the 60’s where we were living in kampong and staying in a room with 10 people. Though it was quite a squeeze for us as a family but then it was still comfortable. The entertainment we got were playing marbles, catching spiders, flying kites, top spin, catching, etc. It was really fun for children at our time during those days. We were kind of carefree and most of our time were spent outdoor with plenty of activities. Then we learnt that the Government started to build HDB flats which was a great idea since it would be able to cater of more people and better staying conditions. It was in the 70’s before we could afford to move into HDB flat. Thumbs up for this!

In 1985, Singapore experienced its first post-independence recession. To beat the recession, the government introduced a slew of cost-cutting measures such as reductions in employer contributions to the Central Provident Fund and Skills Development Fund; wage restraint for two years; rebates on personal, corporate and property taxes as well as government fees; and loans with lower interest rates. Public development spending was increased and a venture capital fund was set up. The government also adopted a policy of privatisation and deregulation to establish the private sector as the new driver for economic growth. The Singapore economy made a swift recovery in mid-1986. By the second quarter of that year, Singapore posted a growth of 1.2 percent, which increased to 3.8 percent in the third quarter. The recession was the first test for the second-generation leaders led by Goh Chok Tong, who was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister after the 1984 parliamentary general election.

That is what we appreciate of our Government who did a great job for all Singaporeans to move forward in bad times.

The Present in Singapore

We are now all living comfortably in HDB flat and having our own family with children. And having the transport system improving like the MRT system which makes our lives much easier and comfortable.

The network was planned to be constructed and opened in stages, even as plans had already indicated the decision for two main arterial lines. The North South line was given priority because it passed through the Central Area that has a high demand for public transport. The Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRTC)—later renamed SMRT Corporation—was established on 14 October 1983 and took over the roles and responsibilities of the former provisional Mass Rapid Transit Authority. On 7 November 1987, the first section of the North South line started operations, consisting of five stations over six kilometres. Within a year, 20 more stations had been added to the network and a direct service existed between Yishun and Lakeside stations, linking up Central Singapore to Jurong in the west by the end of 1988. The direct service was eventually split into the North South and East West lines after the latter’s completion of the eastern sector to Pasir Ris. By the end of 1990, the Branch line has further linked Choa Chu Kang to the network while the inauguration of Boon Lay station on 6 July 1990 marked the completion of the initial system two years ahead of schedule.

We now are having more places of interests where it attracts visitors from all over the world. We can see how our Government has transformed our tiny red dot city into a place where people want to visit. We are indeed proud to be Singaporeans and having such an effective Government to run our country. Of course we must not be quick to blame whenever something goes wrong as we have to consider that Government is also human like us. Humans are bound to make mistakes once a while but learning from it will be a good lesson as we move forward. We just need to understand that every decision made should be after a much thorough consideration of its pros and cons before implementation. We cannot really expect everything that is done to be perfect all the times without failures as certain factors play a part of the outcome. As long as it is made with much consideration for the people of Singapore, we will totally support it.

The future in Singapore

We need a strong Government to bring us into the future. Therefore, we have to endorse our 100% support in order for them to work for the people of Singapore. All we can say is that this is not a very rosy job to take up as there are lots of sacrifice and commitment need in order to rule Singapore and bringing us forward to meet all sorts of challenges ahead. We like to show our thanks for all that had been done and hope to continue seeing the best outcome for all Singaporeans with our full support in our Government to do their jobs. Thumbs up for you all!

Lastly, as the COVID-19 pandemic is still far from over, please abide to the simple rules that can help each and everyone of us to be safe. Be sure that you wear your mask & do social distancing while in public. Also don’t forget to wash your hands with soap frequently especially before touching your eyes, nose and mouth. It is better safe than sorry since prevention is always better than cure itself. Help yourself as you can help others to avoid getting the infection.

Be blessed with good health and take care of your loved ones!

Kiasu and kiasi about COVID-19 pandemic

Be Kiasu to avoid the infection of COVID-19 plus Kiasi about it!

As we understand that Singapore Circuit Breaker will end on 1st June 2020 and prepare for some businesses to be operational. We simply hope that we will have the mentality of doing the right thing as we move forward to see businesses opening up gradually. Important thing we must be in mind is continuing to be vigilant and not be complacent as the danger of getting infected is still high since there are unknown cases that have yet to be traced. We understand the need of businesses to be operational but precautions are still needed as we definitely do not want to see another wave of COVID-19 spreading.

It is the right time to be a little KIASU and also KIASI kind of approach since we really do not want to be the victim of this infection.

Sometimes we question ourselves about why people still not taking it seriously though there has been lots of news talking about the effect of spreading COVID-19 via human to human contact. Maybe some simply do not bother about it while others just want to act out as defiance! As we see it, we should give much thoughts of people around us that we must not allow it to spread and harm them. Just be HUMAN again please! You may not care about yourself when you resist all rules but please try not to harm others with your action. Others may just want to be safe and with your rash action might put others in danger. A little kind thought with the right action can help others in a long way. We cannot tell who are those unknown cases of having the virus but as long as everyone keep in mind of the safety aspect and doing the right thing then we can avoid others from getting the infection. It is hard to have 100% cooperation but every bit counts from people like you and us. Help yourself as you can expect others to help you in return.

Learn and know what to expect and prevent it from happening!

Getting the report daily from GOV.SG about the cases happening in Singapore, it is comforting to know that we are reduced to 1% of the unknown cases. But it is also kind of worrying since we do not know the 1% source of transmission. Therefore, we hope that all people who are staying in Singapore should be downloading the TraceTogether app that will allow 100% contact tracing of individual who is infected and those around the same location. At least it helps to tell us if we are exposed with someone having the infection. Please be human again as we are all the same human being regardless of races or religions.

Stop COVID-19 pandemic with your action!

Wearing masks and do social distancing when in public. Washing hands with soap frequently especially before touching your nose, eyes and mouth. Such simple and yet effective actions can help you to avoid getting the infection. It is a good practice and guess this will become a norm as we will be living in the near future. Here are some good practice that will be the current cure for COVID-19 until the vaccine is made available.

War with COVID-19 pandemic

Since the start of last year December 2019 when the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, we all are solely involved with the never ending fighting with this deadly virus which had already claimed so many lives of our dearest and continue to be harmful until we get the vaccine cure. What can we do? At this very moment, our ONLY cure will be social distancing & isolation! Yes! That will be the ONLY way to fight against this deadly virus and helping to contain it so that it will no longer be able to transmit human to human. Please abide to this simple and yet effective way as a prevention to avoid further spreading. This means we have to act just as a human being regardless of races or religions to combat this as one people. That way, we will slowly emerge as victory against COVID-19 pandemic.

It is time for us to be a little more kiasu in times like this since it affects everyone’s life. It is like our lives are hanging by the thread and once when we are not careful, it puts us in danger as well as those closest to us. Since this virus can easily transmit human to human, we really need to be extra kiasu in order to avoid getting infected.

This may sound simple but a tough situation. Why? After reading news every single day, we can tell that not all people will have the same determination of doing just that. It is a very hard path for all human beings at this stage since there are resistance from certain group of people who just want to defy this sort of action like social distancing or isolation whenever possible. This group of people simply don’t agree of doing such thing as they just want to do what they want without any sort of consideration for safety of others. But we still have hope that they will simply wake up one day and abide to this simple rule for the safety of themselves as well as their loved ones. This is a long battle with COVID-19 as well as different human perspective on this matter. We just hope that one day in the near future, everyone will see as one human being to another and do what is right as to eliminate this virus together. It is like hoping for a miracle as we do believe it can happen. Hopefully to be sooner than later.

Every single effort to be carry out by each of us together as a community will be a light of hope against COVID-19. This battle with COVID-19 pandemic requires us to be just human again. Only we think alike and do the same thing as to avert this danger of getting infected. We need cooperation to carry out the most difficult task and do what is right together instead of blaming one another for its cause. Now is not the time to point blame but to be UNITED and find a solution instead. Get all resources together and share information as to come out with the vaccine cure! That is what we need to do at current situation. Be human again and help one another today!

Of course, we also need to rely on true news rather than fake news as it can be harmful when we do not know the truth. But the current situation of pandemic, it is best to keep wearing masks and washing hands with soap often whenever you are in public. Try as far as possible to minimize your public appearance and do what is needed and head home thereafter. Be informed of the news from reliable sources and know whatever is going on so that you can take all necessary preventive measures. It is sad to hear news about Chinese being beaten for no reason at all. This disease is not anyone’s fault as it does not choose who to be infected. One is just unlucky to be infected and having it to spread to another. This virus does not care about races or religions and can infect anyone. So, we all human beings should stand united and fight against it by using the right method of preventive measures and precautions. That way, we can prevent it from further spreading of human to human.

Think like human and behave like human! Then we have won half the battle already! The next half battle will depend on individual to abide the social distancing and isolation to avoid further spreading. Helping yourself as what you want to help your loved ones to be safe & sound. Let us work together for a safer society and put an end to this disaster together as one.

Once again, here are some of the guidelines you can follow as to help yourself and others against this virus and eliminating it together.

  1. Point One: Isolation is the best cure / vaccine for prevention of spreading as well as avoid being infected.
  2. Point Two: Download the contact tracing app for those currently in Singapore as to find out all the unknown sources that maybe infected with COVID-19.
